“Happy Mothers Day”
I used to help hand out flowers at church for women on Mothers Day. I never really understood the strange looks I sometimes got from some or the “um…I’m not a mother?” comment. Fast forward to this year when I’m back in my country and must look older since I no longer get asked if I just graduated from high school (as was the case before I left 3 years ago)
All weekend while at the grocery store or just out in public people come up to me and say “Happy Mothers Day!”. Perhaps this is just the custom now to greet anyone with curves at any time near this weekend. It just strikes me as a bit odd. (don’t you mean my mother?) We can just add this to being called “ma’am”.
O well, the weekend is almost over. I guess I understand. I mean, I would have pictured at this time of my life I would have either “decided” on a family or a career. Now my practice lies thousands of miles away in fading memories. I’m just starting a long round of college classes.
LOL the nice lady at the grocery store just probably did it out of habit and was not prepared for a blogging tirade. Ok…I best go finish lunch for my mom.
