Today I was multitasking at Target (mom's gift, the church basket, few personal items, on the way home from grocery shopping). While walking through the aisles I noticed a new line of doggie clothing that was on sale. Normally I don't buy into the dog paraphanalia (except for an annual dog collar at Old Navy). However, they had the CUTEST doggie swim trunks and doggie bikinis. They were on clearance, but still not that cheap.
As I was looking at the stiching and velcro to understand how this went on the dog, I suddenly realized just WHAT was happening to me. I threw the object back down on the shelf and turned away. Me..a rational still relatively fresh person back in the US was CONSIDERING DOGGIE CLOTHES. Besides how stupid this market is there is the reality:
A. My dog won't put up for ANYTHING other than a dog collar (and that took a year)
B. I had been putting off reasonable personal purchases since I'm trying to save money for school.
So why buy clothes for the dog who hates them?!?
And just beyond the logic of all of this...it just was a sudden wake up call that I am slowly becoming desensitized to the wealth of my own country.
